Whitening is a cosmetic procedure that brightens and whitens teeth. Tooth whitening is a procedure that removes stains from teeth. At The Hamptons Dentist, our dentist will likely use a bleach-based whitening gel. This gel is inserted into the mouth, where it reacts to the stains on your teeth. The teeth, along with the gel, are removed from the mouth, and the process is repeated several times. Tooth whitening is a good option if your teeth are discolored, but the procedure may not be appropriate for people with unsealed or cracked teeth.
Most people start seeing amazing results in just a day or two of their first treatment. The whitening gel used in in-office treatments is much stronger than what’s available over the counter. This makes it more effective and quicker, often causing your teeth to become shades whiter in as little as one visit.
Little to No Sensitivity
Patients don’t often complain about sensitivity issues after using teeth whitening procedures. That’s because the whitening gel contains potassium nitrate and fluoride, which buffer the pH of the whitening gel and reduce the amount of sensitivity that’s experienced. Sensitivity isn’t eliminated, though.
Guided Light Optics
Our Dentist uses a bleaching gel with a blue-light activation system. They use a set of blue-light goggles that guide the light, so there aren’t any dark spots. This minimizes the risk of tooth sensitivity.
No Messy Strips
No messy strips, no uncomfortable trays, and no tooth sensitivity. Those three things are exactly what you can expect with in-office whitening. When you choose in-office whitening, you’ll visit the dentist for 20 to 60 minutes. During the visit, the dentist will apply a whitening gel to your teeth. Then, he or she will use a handheld light device to activate the gel and allow it to penetrate your teeth.
No Uncomfortable Trays
When a patient comes in to get their teeth whitened, the first thing we do is examine their teeth. Once we determine they are good candidates for teeth whitening, we take a mold of their mouth. This mold is then filled with a whitening solution. The patient wears this mold filled with the whitening solution for a while, anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. During this time, the whitening solution penetrates the enamel, removing stains and discoloration. The patient gets immediate results. Once the treatment is finished, the patient can remove the mold. Since the mold is shaped to fit perfectly over the patient’s teeth, there is no mess and no uncomfortable trays to deal with.
Is Teeth Whitening Safe?
The professionals at our clinic consider the safety and overall oral health of patients to be of the utmost importance. As a result, we provide a non-bleaching, whitening treatment that effectively lightens the smile in a safe, effective manner. Our whitening treatment does not utilize any harsh chemicals, and the advanced dental technology we use will not damage the tooth enamel. Patients should not purchase whitening treatments from online or retail stores, as these products can damage the enamel.
